JC's Country Diner Online Menu
JC's Country Diner is a local small business in a small rural town. They provide all day breakfast along with lunch and diner options and enjoy serving the people of their small community.
My role

I was the sole designer in this project and took on the roles of UX Researcher, Visual Designer, and Product Designer, As such I took on the tasks of conducting interviews, creating paper and digital wire frames, creating low and high-fidelity prototypes, conducted usability studies, and iterated on the designs.
The main problem for the diner is they lack a "home" for their online presence, and are planning on increasing their reach and their community outreach. But without a single place for all their work to live they are at the sole mercy of rumors.

I conducted secondary research to discover the main demographics for the restaurant business, along with common problems that users faced.  In my primary research I found that the average age of the most frequent customers were in their 40's  up to their 60's.

Usability Study Findings

2 out of 5 participants wanted to see promotions or deals.
3 out of 5 participants were unclear on how to make an order.
3 out of 5 participants selected the center logo button to head back to the home page.

In order to address a people being unclear a tab was added to the side of the site so that it could always have the phone number present on the side. People can click the link and a mobile phone can initiate a phone in order.

I developed a new brand identity concept for the diner that could help as many updates are planned for the future to update the building and menu.
Next Steps

The next steps for this project include presenting the work done to the owners of the diner to see if they would be interested in expanding their reach to the community with this online menu, new branding, or other parts of the project and see if we can align on work that would be beneficial to their company.
